Assessment

AI Readiness Assessment

Find out where you stand before you start spending.

What it is

Find out whether your business is ready to invest in AI, and what foundations to put in place if it isn't. The assessment evaluates readiness across five dimensions and produces a scored report with concrete recommendations and specific next steps tied to your situation.

Think of it as a health check before the treatment plan. The results tell you what's strong, what's missing, and where to invest first: whether that's data infrastructure, skills development, governance, or leadership buy-in. You can take the assessment yourself using our online tool, or we can run it as a facilitated session with your team for richer discussion and deeper insight.

The 5 dimensions

Data & Information

Quality, accessibility, governance, pipelines

Technology

Infrastructure, integration, compute, security

People & Skills

AI literacy, technical capability, training

Organisation & Culture

Leadership, change readiness, strategy

Governance & Compliance

Risk management, regulation, ethics, policy

Who it's for

  • Organisations exploring AI but unsure if they have the foundations in place
  • Leadership teams who need an evidence-based view before committing budget
  • Public sector bodies and regulated organisations that need to demonstrate due diligence
  • Businesses that have tried AI and want to understand why it hasn't stuck

What to expect

The assessment covers 29 questions across the five dimensions. Each question uses a 1–4 maturity scale with clear descriptors, so there's no guesswork, just honest assessment.

Self-guided: Complete the assessment online in your own time (around 20–30 minutes). You'll get your scored results and a downloadable PDF report. No cost, no commitment.

Facilitated: We run the assessment as a live session with your team (60–90 minutes). Same framework, same report, but guided discussion and facilitator prompts help draw out more honest answers and surface context that a self-assessment can miss.

Score Level What it means
1 Beginning No capability or awareness in this area
2 Developing Some informal or ad-hoc activity
3 Established Formal, structured, repeatable processes
4 Advanced Mature, proactive, continuously improving

What we deliver

  • Overall readiness score and band (Not Ready through to Advanced)
  • Per-dimension scores showing exactly where you're strong and where the gaps are
  • Readiness profile visualisation (radar chart across all five dimensions)
  • Prioritised recommendations: critical gaps first, then development areas
  • Suggested next steps linked to specific actions (governance policies, workshops, training)
  • Professional PDF report ready for leadership or board presentation

The starting point for everything else

The readiness assessment is designed as the natural entry point to our other services. A low governance score points to policy development. Strong culture but weak data infrastructure tells you where to invest before running an opportunity workshop. The results give you a roadmap and we can help you follow it.

Workshop

AI Opportunity Discovery Workshop

Find the AI initiatives that will actually move the needle.

What it is

Identify the AI initiatives worth pursuing, and skip the ones that won't move the needle. Most AI work starts with the technology and goes looking for a problem; we start with your business priorities (growing revenue, reducing costs, improving customer experience) and work backwards to find where AI can genuinely help.

Using our AI Opportunity Framework (AIOF) and its CDPP process (Context, Discovery, Prioritise, Plan), we systematically identify and score opportunities so you walk away with a prioritised action plan, not a wishlist.

Who it's for

  • Businesses curious about AI but unsure where to start
  • Teams with ideas but no structured way to evaluate them
  • Leaders who need a business case before investing in AI

What to expect

C Context

Define priorities & success criteria

D Discovery

Brainstorm AI opportunities

P Prioritise

Score on value, feasibility & risk

P Plan

Build business cases & roadmap

Phase Activity Duration
Context Define strategic priorities, stakeholders, and success criteria ~1 hour
Discovery Brainstorm AI opportunities across every business function ~3 hours
Prioritise Score each opportunity on value, feasibility, and risk ~3 hours
Plan Build 1-page business cases and an implementation roadmap 2–4 hours

What we deliver

  • 10–20 AI opportunities identified
  • Each opportunity scored on business value, feasibility, and risk
  • Visual priority matrix showing where each opportunity sits
  • Top 3–5 opportunities with 1-page business cases
  • 6–12 month implementation roadmap
  • PDF workshop report you can take to leadership

The live facilitation tool

We use our own purpose-built workshop app to capture ideas, score opportunities, and generate the priority matrix in real time. Your team sees results on screen as they happen, no waiting for a consultant to write up a report.

Workshop

AI Risk Assessment Workshop

Deploy AI with confidence, not crossed fingers.

What it is

Deploy AI without nasty surprises, and have the evidence to show your board, your auditor, or a regulator that risks are under control. A structured workshop built on our AI Risk Management Framework (AIRMF), for businesses already using AI or about to deploy it. We work through five risk categories (technical, operational, compliance, ethical, and security) to identify, score, and create treatment plans for your AI risks.

Who it's for

  • Businesses deploying AI that need to manage risks properly
  • Teams wanting to de-risk before implementation
  • Organisations needing to demonstrate AI governance to stakeholders or regulators

The 5 risk categories

Technical

Bias, accuracy, model drift, explainability

Operational

Integration, skills gaps, vendor dependency

Compliance

UK GDPR, sector regulators, EU AI Act

Ethical

Fairness, transparency, privacy, job displacement

Security

Data poisoning, adversarial attacks, access control

What we deliver

  • Comprehensive risk register (15–30 risks identified)
  • Each risk scored on likelihood and impact (3x3 matrix)
  • Visual risk heat map
  • Treatment plans for top 5–10 priority risks
  • Control implementation checklist with owners and deadlines
  • Monitoring dashboard template for ongoing tracking

Works with the Opportunity Workshop

Run both workshops together for a complete picture: which AI opportunities to pursue and how to manage the risks. Shared context means no duplicated effort.

Governance

AI Policy Development

Governance policies that actually fit your organisation, not a generic template.

What it is

An AI governance policy your auditor will accept and your CFO will sign. Tailored to your industry, scale, and jurisdiction. Most organisations know they need one, but writing from scratch is daunting and generic templates don't reflect any of those things. We gather key details about your organisation, AI landscape, and compliance needs, then produce a tailored set of governance policies aligned to ISO 42001, UK sector-regulator expectations, and the EU AI Act where applicable.

What to expect

A guided process covering your organisation profile, the AI systems you use or plan to deploy, your regulatory jurisdiction, and your governance maturity. The output is a set of policies written in practical, business-ready language, not legalese, that you can adopt, adapt, and put into practice.

Who it's for

  • Organisations that need AI governance policies but aren't ready for a full workshop
  • Teams preparing for ISO 42001 certification, UK regulator scrutiny, or EU AI Act compliance
  • Leaders who want a concrete starting point rather than a blank page

What we deliver

  • A tailored set of governance policies covering areas such as risk management, ethics, data, transparency, human oversight, monitoring, incident response, vendor assessment, and training
  • Each policy aligned to relevant standards (ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF, UK sector-regulator guidance, EU AI Act where applicable)
  • Customised to your industry, organisation size, and jurisdiction
  • Delivered as professional PDF documents ready for internal review and adoption

Works with the Risk Assessment Workshop

This service works standalone, but pairs naturally with the AI Risk Assessment Workshop. Clients who complete the risk workshop get deeper context baked into their policies. Clients who start with policies often follow up with a workshop to operationalise them.
